Korn - Freak On A Leash

Music video: Korn- Freak On A Leash

Genre: Rock

The video opens up with a quick animation, along with an instrumental that starts with the song. at the end of the animation, we can see that the guard appears to shoot his gun. The camera follows this bullet which flies through the air, past all the children in slow motion, then enters reality as it tears through a poster in a girls bedroom. It then crashes through a lava lamp in slow motion to create an effect, and exits the room through a wooden board that is hung up on the bedroom wall. We then see that it crashed through the kitchen, destroying a piece of pottery in the process. The bullet then exits the house, where the camera cuts to show the band members in a room which is lit by artificial lighting through many small holes that cover the ceiling and walls, suggesting they are bullet holes. A variety of medium and long shots are used to show the Band members. They are all dressed in black clothing which is a stereotypical dress sense for the genre, and which also suggests they are dark people. The lead singer has black dreadlocks and he is wearing a black kilt which is part of his rockstar image that he potrays throughout many of Korns music Videos. A lot of mid shots and close ups of the singer to create a focus point. After this, a cross cut is used to show the bullet once more flying down a street. It then enters into a back garden where a childrens party is taking place, bursting the balloons. Throughout the video, the bullet seems to be causing destruction in time to the beat of the song in slow motion. The bullet then travels through a gym in a house, and then through a korn poster in the room, creating a hole in the room where the band is playing, further suggesting that the holes were created by the bullet in the first place. The Bullet can then be seen moving towards the lead singers face. He responds by performing some kind of beat-boxing which makes the bullet move backwards away from him. It then proceeds to fly around the room, towards the other band members who make threatening faces, making the bullet move backwards again. After this, the instrumental kicks in again and the bullet then exits the room via the hole it came through, destroying a coffee machine, a magazine and a t.v. in the process, as well as narrowly avoiding a man jumping into a pool and a boy on a swing as it makes its way back to the hole it originally came from. The scene then finally cuts back to the animation that was seen at the start of the video, showing a girl catching the bullet and then dropping it into the security guards hand. The camera then pans back to a fence which has a warning sign on it, and the video ends. this video would agree with Goodwin's theory slightly as it includes a lot of close-ups of the band members faces to show the audience who they are, and the lyrics relate to the music video.
